Need a plumber, a tutor or a hairdresser you can trust? Here's how to find verified local providers recommended by your community on BorrowBuddy.

BorrowBuddy is a trusted local services app for families. Its Services section brings together providers recommended by your community — plumbers, tutors, hairdressers, tailors, caterers and more — each with a verified badge, ratings and reviews. Here's how to find the right one.
Get the app: download BorrowBuddy on Google Play.
Step 1: Open Services
Open the Services section. You'll see "Trusted local services, recommended by your community," with a search bar and a filter button.
Step 2: Search or browse by category
- Search for what you need — "plumber," "math tutor," "braids."
- Tap a category such as All Services, Plumbers, Tutors or Hairdressers to narrow the list.
- Use Sort by to order results, for example by Recommended.
The screen shows how many services are available so you know how much choice you have.
Step 3: Compare providers
Each provider card shows:
- Name and photo
- What they offer — for example "Plumbing Services," "Maths • Science • English" or "Haircut • Colour • Styling"
- Star rating and number of reviews
- A Verified badge
- How far away they are
Tap the heart to save providers you like, and View Profile to see more about their work, reviews and availability.
Step 4: Check before you book
Especially for work in your home or with your children:
- Read recent reviews and look for specific comments.
- Confirm what's included in the price before the job starts.
- Check licenses where they matter — many states require them for plumbing and electrical work.
- Message the provider to agree on timing and details.

Step 5: Book and pay in the app
Booking and paying in the app means you have a clear record, with the total and refund terms shown before you pay. Learn how payments work.
Step 6: Leave a review
After the job, leave an honest rating and review. It helps good providers grow and helps your neighbors choose well.

A provider's profile shows the verification checks they have completed, along with ratings and reviews from community members. A badge reflects those checks only — not a guarantee of competence.

Yes. Tap the heart on any provider card to save them.

Yes. Complete the verification required for your category, list your services and set your availability. Eligible confirmed activity may inform your CTC Trust Score™.
